Movie of the Week: Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning

Alot of bad reviews followed this final release of the Ginger Snaps Trilogy, and i'm here to say they were greatly unfounded! In my estimation, this is probably the best of the three films about the Fitzgerald sisters. For a low budget film, the set pieces and filming were amazing. All the little details such as costumes, hairstyles, accents and such were spot on and that's gotta be tough when doing a period piece. The acting is as good as I've seen in any oscar worthy film. You get the feel that the people behind the scenes and the actors themselves truly believed in this project and they really hit it out of the park. Although this is the third film in the series, it's actually the first, hence The Beginning in the title. Much better than most direct to video films, it's made so well you can't consider it a "B" movie. I truly enjoyed all three films and you can see the filmmaking progress through them. I give this movie ****1/2 out of *****. Start with the original, then see the next two. I promise you won't be disappointed.
